Kęstutis
Macijauskas was born in Dusetos, Zarasai district. After graduation
from Dusetos High School, he entered the Naval Academy in Kaliningrad,
majoring in communications.
In 1984, Kęstutis Macijauskas graduated from the Academy and received
his commissions as an Ensign. His initial assignment was with the
Northern Submarine Fleet. He served on a strategic nuclear submarine as
Communications Division Officer advancing to the position of Department
Officer.
Upon returning to Lithuania in 1992, he started his service with
recently re-established Lithuanian Navy. His first position was Chief of
the Training Centre.
In 1994-1995, Kęstutis Macijauskas attended the US Naval Staff College
at the Naval War College.
In 1997 -1999, Kęstutis Macijauskas carried out the duties of the
Commander of Sea and Coast Surveillance Service.
On 28 April 1999, he was appointed to the position of Commander – in -
Chief of the Lithuanian Navy.
On 22 January 2000, Kęstutis Macijauskas was advanced to the rank of
Navy Captain.
In 2004, he completed the NATO Defence College in Rome, Italy.
On 16 February 2005, Kęstutis Macijauskas was promoted to the rank of
Rear Admiral (l.h.).
In 2008-2010 – RADM (l.h.) Kęstutis Macijauskas executed the duties of
Chief of Defence Staff of the Ministry of National Defence Lithuania.
On April 30, 2010 Rear Admiral (l.h.) Kęstutis Macijauskas was
appointed to the position of Commander in Chief of Lithuanian Navy.
His personal awards include the Medal of Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas
II Degree Order and the Officer’s Cross of the Lithuanian Meritorious
Order.
RARM (l.h.) Kęstutis Macijauskas is married to Svetlana Macijauskienė
with two sons. His personal hobbies include hunting, traveling and
history reading.
