Commander Andrej Androjna, M.Sc

Cdr Androjna was born in 04September 1967 in Celje. After completing the Military High School in Ljubljana, he continued his studies at the Naval Academy in Split. Graduated in 1990 as an anti-submarine weapons officer, following which he qualified as a submarine officer and was based in Split.

During the 1991 Slovenian independence war he volunteered for the Slovenian Territorial Defence force. Afterwards he held several appointments, including the executive officer of the 210 Military Training Centre. In 1996 he was appointed the first Commanding Officer of first Slovenian Navy fast patrol boat “ANKARAN-21”. One year later he was the Commanding Officer of the Patrol Vessel Squadron. In 1998 he attended an English course at the Defense Languages Institute in Lackland AFB, USA, and after that he attended the International Maritime Officers Course (IMOC-2/98) with the USCG in Yorktown, Virginia. From July 1998 until Jun 2000 he worked as a Executive Officer of the 220 Coastal Defence Headquarters.

In March 2002 he completed a postgraduate study (Masters Degree) on the Faculty of Organisational Science in Kranj. From Jun 2000 until July 2003 he worked in RHQ EASTLANT as an assistant to the Head of the Partnership for Peace Staff Element dealing with Plans & Policy issues.

From July 2003 until October 2003 he worked in Plans & Policy Division at the SN GS. From October 2003 until August 2005 he worked as an assistant to the Slovenian Military Representative at SHAPE. Afterwards he worked in G-3 section at the Force Command of the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF).

In February 2006 he completed the 107 Senior Course at NDC in Rome and the SVN General Staff Course in October 2008. Currently is working on his PhD. He took over the Command of the SAF 430th Naval Division in November 2006.

He was awarded the bronze Medal of the Slovenian Army (1994), the bronze medal of SN CHOD (2004), the General Maister’s bronze medal (2005), the bronze Medal of the SAF Force Commander (2006) and the bronze Award of the Slovenian Army (2007).

Cdr Androjna lives with his wife Mateja in Koper.
